Describe your ideal school bus: Tablets with turn by turn directions for drivers along with student photo identification, 4+ camera system with online capability for real-time viewing, and stop arm camera for violators.
What advice would you give your younger self? Don't be afraid to take risks and try new things.  Believe in yourself and demand your worth!
What do you love most about your job? Working with drivers and the variety each day brings.
What would you say is your greatest professional accomplishment? I recently obtained my CPTS certification through NAPT® and am working towards the next level.
If you had an extra hour in the day, what would you do with it? Self Care
If you had a time machine, would you go back in time or into the future? Why? I don't think I would go back and change anything since all of my experiences have made me who I am but I would like to go back and spend more time with loved ones who have passed.

What would you say is your greatest professional accomplishment? Serving others using Pupil Transportation as the resource.
If you had an extra hour in the day, what would you do with it? Play pickleball!
If you had a time machine, would you go back in time or into the future? Why? Future. I want to see the flying school bus!

Describe your ideal school bus: Telematics, internal external video, collision mitigation, traction control, GPS, electronic pre-trip
What advice would you give your younger self? Mission first, people always
What do you love most about your job? The people in my diverse department
What would you say is your greatest professional accomplishment? Lifelong - Surviving 9 combat tours while serving 23 years in the Marine Corps. In this profession, we are beginning our third year without a driver shortage.
If you had an extra hour in the day, what would you do with it? Something that supports a work-life balance
If you had a time machine, would you go back in time or into the future? Why? Back in time. If I would have known then what I know now, look out world.


Josh Rice, M.S., CDPT, Director of Transportation, Klein ISD (TX)

Describe your ideal school bus: I think we already have the ideal school bus. We have multiple cameras, onboard wifi, onboard entertainment with DVD, bucket seats, and rooftop A/C!
What advice would you give your younger self? Follow what your heart tells you. If you get to the point at a job that you want to move on, then it's probably the best thing for you to do.  Something better could be waiting right around the corner!
What do you love most about your job? I love being around the people that I work with, and being able to call them friends. We spend most of our time around the people we work with vs. our family, so it is great to get along with everyone.
What would you say is your greatest professional accomplishment? Completing both the Director level certification with NAPT, as well as the highest level in our state, Master Official.
If you had an extra hour in the day, what would you do with it? Spend time with my family.

What advice would you give your younger self? Take it slow and steady. Do the best job you can.
What do you love most about your job? Teaching new drivers and the look on their faces when they get what you're trying to present.
What would you say is your greatest professional accomplishment? Getting all the students on the buses before the first day of school.
If you had an extra hour in the day, what would you do with it? Exercise
If you had a time machine, would you go back in time or into the future? Why? I don't want to know what the future holds so I would go back and spend more time with those I have lost.
